In 1958, while still a student at Catholic University, Pino became the producer and host of The Italian Melodies Hour, an Italian music and interview program founded four years earlier by his brother Carmelo Cicala.

The program communicated positive messages about the lives and contributions of Italians and Italian Americans over its 50 year broadcast history, the precursor of both Panorama Italiano Television and Antennitalia which brought live Italian soccer to the Washington area. Following this came the creation of the information website and "kev to Washington Italiana"

AMICO (www.italianamericancommunications.org) , an ongoing resource devoted to spreading Italian cultural awareness in the nation's capital and throughout the United States.
